Thanks for this video! Would this van work for a drive to and around Monteverde? There will be 7 adults in our group. A 7 passenger SUV won't work well because we also need luggage space for 7 of us.

Car rental cost has been the highest piece of our budget. We visited both in December and February. Planning a return in October and dedicate ourselves to Puerto Viejo for 9 nine. Our plan was to bus ... but I noticed October is low season and the car rental is half what we paid for in Feb.. We got full insurance then which was crazy. we used Alamo both times and elected to do the car rental again. Liability in advance was only $113, already paid in advance with $0 deductible. It was much higher in previous visits .. so we'll see what happens. ...... I did back into a palm tree at my cousins place in Aguas Zarcas. which left a dent. I left the hatch open when I dropped off the car and got away Scott free. Alamo has been great.- though a costly item in Costa Rica. We don't need a car to veg in Puerto Viejo for more than a week, but low season prices made it sensible.

The new airport is fantastic. My 1st time there was February 1st, 2024. Far better than the old airport from 3 years ago. I really like this airport better than SJO in Alajuela.

My favorite part of Costa Rica so far is the area around the Arenal volcano. I have been there twice. On both occasions, we did the Cano Negro river tour and visited the Tabacon Resort at night. We had lunch one day at a restaurant called Toad Hall, which was located right next to Lake Arenal. One night, we went to a designated observation area where we saw and heard the volcano erupt.

I went to Costa Rica 6 years in a row, from '95 through '00. I've forgotten the names of the beaches I visited. I fell in love with a Tica, but it didn't work out.

How do you get from San Jose to Jaco do you have to book that ahead of time also are is there drivers waiting for people

Hollowed out ficus tree is now surrounded by barbed wire. And there are cameras put there by property owners. They blocked tree off inside so you can't climb anymore

Does Mytanfeet still offer the free cell phone use? My cell phone apparently won't work in Costa Rica.

I booked this tour for my husband and myself after seeing your video. We were very pleased with it - even had the same guide, Adrian who was great and very knowledgeable, we enjoyed talking to him. The waterfalls steps did about do me in, should not have had such a good lunch. Food was great.

Love your page and used the intel for our current travels. We're currently in Manuel Antonio after visiting La Fortuna and Monteverde.Tow months ago we stayed and chilled in Puerto Viejo which is what we prefer to do. We're here mid-week and entrances to the park are sold-out. I get only 1500 people can enter in stages. Should be enough tickets to go around - but no ! Tickets are not available on official web site as tour companies and touts by them up. We secured a guide, including park entry as only alternative - which is OK. The irritant are the scammers a couple km before the park acting as certified park officials to pay and park a distance away. I expected this and had a heated discussion with one of these thugs that wants to charge me for parking. As half tico, I quickly deduced these are mostly Nicaraguans, and they verified that was the case. DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED BY THIS SCAMMERS. You can legally park on side of street absent of yellow markings. I talked to restaurant owner at round a- bout where buses turn around back to San Jose, and in front of a nice beach. He states everyone knows this is a problem but don't do anything about it. As for me, I'm leaving a formal complaint with local police field in Quepos, as well as bring this up with local business people while I'm here. Hey, I love my mother's country and I want it as advertised for those that have decided to vacation here. ....I worked in tourist field in the 90's with Swiss Travel as a partner back then when it was obvious suppliers and land operators were over-pricing. I knew this and have been going to SE Asia last two decades for 1/4 of price with actual culture and cuisine. After a long absence, I'm on my 2nd trip and noting items off kilter, especially car rental prices. I'm sure the tourist board is aware and in cahoots. That said, we're having a great time and secured a guide with park entrances tomorrow at Manuel Antonio.

Hey, great descriptive video, thanks! How would you travel within Drake Bay from one place to another if you take a boat to get there and so you won't have your own car?

Was there not even a yr ago and I wasn't impressed. The beach was dirty. Dog poop all over the beach and alot of rocks. Water isn't the pretty blue either. Jaco was one of my least favorite vacation spots and extremely hot.. I did enjoy the colorful birds and other wild life. If you're visiting beware that it is very expensive also. Won't be visiting again.
